China Investigative Research Associate
We seek highly motivated candidates to help with China-specific investigative research for Strategy Risks. Relevant analytical experience in All-Source, Open-Source, or due diligence disciplines is a must. Candidates who either have or are working toward a degree in international relations, political science, public policy, business, finance, or a related field will be highly considered. The ideal candidates also command a strong understanding of China and the private sector. Reading proficiency in Chinese is desired, but not required.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide open-source intelligence analysis related to topics including but not limited to Chinese regional influence, military activities, economic and political activities, quality of life, and human rights.
Conduct research on and analysis of American companies operating in China.
Conduct media research, work with databases, financial documents, primary documents, and other sources to uncover reputational and criminal issues and ultimate beneficial ownership; making sense of complex corporate structures; and identifying possible political and sanctions exposure for American companies operating in China.
Organize large amounts of data, which will also involve technical writing and comparing index models.
Assist VP of Research and CEO with various other research tasks as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Education, and Experience:
Undergraduate or Graduate Degree required
Knowledge of open-source information sources and excellent internet research skills
Strong understanding of China and the private sector
Strong English-language writing and communication skills, effective critical thinking, and strong attention to detail
Outstanding research and writing skills
Excellent data analysis skills and strong attention to detail
Experience living in, working on, or studying China
Self-starter and ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and G Suite
The China Investigative Research Associate role is a full-time, fully remote position with an immediate start date.
